Tropical Storm Isaias

Tropical Storm Isaias is racing North-Northeastward across Eastern New York with strong gusty winds and heavy rainfall. Threat of tornadoes will spread northward across southern and central New England

Isaias is sustaining 65 mph winds and moving NNE at 40 mph. Widespread sustained tropical storm force winds expected along mid-Atlantic coast and will spread across New England tonight. Numerous tornadoes have already occurred over portions of the mid-Atlantic and the threat continues into New England this afternoon.

  • Isaias made landfall Monday night in North Carolina as a Category 1 hurricane 
  • Isaias is currently near Philadelphia, PA
  • Over 1.1 million homes and businesses had lost power from North Carolina to New Jersey as of midday Tuesday (poweroutage.us)
  • There have been more than a dozen reports of tornadoes since last night from North Carolina to Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and New Jersey
  • Manteo, North Carolina, Norfolk, Virginia, Salisbury, Maryland, and Atlantic City, New Jersey, have all clocked wind gusts over 60 mph this morning. The National Hurricane Center reports that a wind gust to 94 mph was measured at a weather station at York River East, Virginia (The Weather Channel
  • Isaias should move into eastern Canada by early Wednesday morning

    • Washington, DC
    • New York, NY
    • Boston, MA
    • New Jersey
    • Dover, DE
    • Connecticut
    • New Hampshire 
    • Bar Harbor, ME

Tropical storm watch is in effect for: 

  • Northeastern Maine

Tornado Watch is in effect for:

  • East-central New York, northern Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, southern Vermont and southern New Hampshire until 9 p.m. EDT
